When it comes to bang for your buck, few vehicles can match the performance per dollar of the mighty Chevy Corvette. Upon a quick test drive, Michael Schwartz, a successful entrepreneur and owner of Flint, MI's 44 Inc., decided to purchase this 2002 Chevrolet Corvette Z06. In order to quench his incredible thirst for performance and meet his desired level of complete customization, Schwartz soon found himself shelling out approximately $140,000 in modifications to create this unique Z06. Having owned a 1966 Cobra, 1970 Corvette C16, 1969 Camaro Z28 and a 1966 Corvette 427, Schwartz wears his passion for good 01' American muscle on his sleeve. His reason for building this beast was simple: to have a one-of-a-kind car that could outrun 99 percent of others out there. The series of parts that followed transformed the Z06 in every respect by some high-profile builders.
…a killer install by Duke's Car Stereo in Flint, MI offers more in the way of entertainment.
Donny Zaney gets the installation credit here. For a source, they used a Kenwood Excelon KVT911 DVD in-dash monitor to provide both music and video. Moving onto the doors, a set of JL Audio TR650CSI speakers were placed into custom fibreglass panels painted to match the exterior of the car. For the rear, JL's TR525CXI speakers were paired with a JL 300/4 amp to power the mids and highs. This, along with a 500/1 mono amp and JL 8W7 subwoofer, sits within a custom fibreglass amp rack and sealed subwoofer box in the trunk. The paint was specially mixed to match the hood of the car and there is a Chevy "bow-tie" port that permits the sound from the subwoofer to enter the interior of the car. Fuses, power and distribution hardware are also by JL Audio.
The bottom line is that this car is off the hook! Being the last in the line of personally approved Lingenfelter Corvettes would have been enough to make this a truly unique vehicle, but Schwartz' extra TLC has ensured it will remain a true one of-a-kind car for many years to come. It took about a year to finish and by no means was it cheap, but you know that John Lingenfelter is probably looking down from above on this mean machine with a big smile on his face.
